1st TIMES School to be held in Hamburg

HAMBURG, JUNE 10th – 13th 2025

The 1st TIMES school will take place hosted by Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD) on the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) campus in Hamburg, with a plan to visit the facility.

The Doctoral Candidates’ training will be focused on the theoretical methods and the related experimental techniques connected to their individual research project, with examples and ideas for applications. This will provide state-of-the-art background on the theoretical aspects, together with an overview on the placement of their research project in the scientific community.

At this school, experts from both the theoretical and the experimental community will be invited. A talk by Prof. Francesca Calegary, DESY will highlight the major experimental large-scale facilities, focused on ultrafast spectroscopy. In addition, an overview of the most used ab-initio codes for non-equilibrium dynamics will be also given (Prof. Angel Rubio, MPSD).

TIMES Career Training School

leuven (be), june 4th – 6th 2025

Next June 4th to 6th, IMEC (Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre) in Leuven (BE) will host a three-day career-oriented training workshop designed to elevate the knowledge of the Doctoral Candidates under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) on semiconductor technology and industry challenges.

For two days, the students will have the opportunity to discuss about semiconductor technology, insights into current industrial challenges or technology transfer methodologies.

The last day the students will present themselves and their project and, by taking advantage of the input received, they will learn how to convey their presentation to a corporate audience.

Online Workshop on Linux and HPC

on-line, October 10th & 11th , 2024

In this two-day online course, we will cover the basics of Linux and High Performance Computing. After its conclusion, participants will have a basic understanding and knowledge of:

  • Working within a Linux environment.
  • Analyzing and visualize data.
  • The usual tools to connect to remote clusters and transfer files.
  • The basics of using a computational cluster.

The workshop will be practical with introductory explanations. Participants will set up their PCs to connect to a cluster where the course will take place.
