Webinars Focused on Ultrafast Dynamics are on-going

From April, 17th, a series of on-line seminars dedicated to deep on Special Solid-State Physics and focused on Ultrafast Dynamics are periodically taking place. These 7 seminars are specifically designed for PhD and master students, and will be conducted until 26th June. By now, three of these master class have been taken place. The webinars…

  • A new TIMES result: direct observation of Floquet–Bloch states in graphene

A new TIMES result: direct observation of Floquet–Bloch states in graphene

Floquet engineering has emerged as a powerful way to manipulate quantum phases of matter through periodic driving. While replica bands known as Floquet–Bloch states have been predicted and observed in some materials, direct energy- and momentum-resolved evidence has remained rare. In this new study, researchers report the direct observation of Floquet–Bloch states in monolayer epitaxial…

Results of the Belfast Workshop to be followed up in the next weeks

At the last Workshop held in Belfast, participants had the opportunity to attend masterclasses and talks given by conference keynote speakers and experts in areas of theoretical and experimental physics. Among the topics addressed, the following were highlighted: The Workshop highlighted the growing relevance of out-of-equilibrium simulation in modern physics and its impact on multiple…

  • 1st TIMES Workshop meeting was successfully developed in Belfast

1st TIMES Workshop meeting was successfully developed in Belfast

1st TIMES Workshop in collaboration with ETSF Real-Time collaboration was held in Belfast (UK) from 7th to 10th April. The Queen´s University of Belfast hosted the Workshop, that served as a platform for knowledge exchange in the field of out-of-equilibrium system simulation. The workshop combined introductory lectures on the state-of-the-art of simulations and experimental techniques…

First TIMES-linked result are here: from Moiré physics to ultrafast photonics

TIMES Project begins to deliver results and is now starting to bear fruit! We are proud to share some of the very first scientific outcomes with our community. These initial results mark an important milestone, showing how collaborative research within TIMES is opening new pathways in the study of ultrafast phenomena in quantum materials. Layered…

  • Exact formula with two dynamically screened electron-phonon couplings for positive phonon-linewidths approximations

Exact formula with two dynamically screened electron-phonon couplings for positive phonon-linewidths approximations

Dr. Stefanucci and Dr. Perfetto from University of Rome Tor Vergata as members of the TIMES Project introduced an exact formula for the phonon linewidths involving only dressed electron-phonon couplings and ensuring the positivity property.

  • Excitonic Bloch equations from first principles

Excitonic Bloch equations from first principles

Dr. Stefanucci and Dr. Perfetto from University of Rome Tor Vergata as members of the TIMES Project published new excitonic Bloch equations. The introduction of an auxiliary exciton species, termed the irreducible exciton, enables to formulate a close set of equations describing exciton dynamics without unphysical overscreening.

2 PhD positions available in the field of “Ab-initio simulations of ultrafast phenomena”

Dr. Molina-Sánchez (University of Valencia) and Dr. Caruso (Kiel University) are looking for two highly-motivated PhD candidates to join the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network “Time-resolved sImulations of ultrafast phenoMena in quantum matErialS (TIMES)”.

  • TIMES partner published a theory of coherent phonons coupled to excitons

TIMES partner published a theory of coherent phonons coupled to excitons

Last June, 2024, Dr. Perfetto, a researcher at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and member of the TIMES Project, published together with his colleagues Dr. Wu and Dr. Stefanucci a quantum many-body theory for the effective interaction between excitons and coherent phonons. This theory predicts that the exciton energy features a polaronic-like red-shift and…
